THE HISTORY
of 1740 (CLYDEBANK) ATC
____________________

Shooting is an activity at which 1740 squadron cadets have excelled at in the past.  In Cadet Flight Sergeant Kim Bainbridge, we have a winner of the cadet 100 badge at Bisley, a winner in the inaugural Clay Target Shooting competition at the Royal School of Artillery Larkhill in August 2007.

Former Clydebank Air Cadets always come in to say hello to staff and chat to present cadets, they also keep in  contact with staff and attend regular old members reunions.

The Squadron is also very proud of the number of ex-cadets whom have entered service with not just the Royal Air Force, but also other branches of HM Forces. Very many ex-Clydebank cadets are now serving as pilots, NCO aircrew, engineers, air traffic controllers, technicians, communications and RAF Regiment. The majority of staff within the unit are also former cadets of the Squadron.

1740(Clydebank) Squadron is one of the 25 squadrons in Glasgow & West Scotland Wing ATC .

The present Wing Commander of Glasgow & West Scotland Wing is a former Officer Commanding 1740 Squadron  Wing Commander T. Snieder  RAF VR(T)
