SPORTS
in the Air Training Corps
____________________

The Air Training Corps offers a broad range of sporting activities to cadets, allowing you to represent your Squadron, Wing, Region, and even go all the way to represent the Corps in the national competitions against Army and Sea Cadets. 1740(Clydebank) Squadron has done very well in recent years: if you take a look below, you'll get an idea of what we have competed on and how we have done.

The ATC also offers RAF-run courses for both cadets and staff to gain qualifications in such things as Community Sports Leader Course, Athletics Officials, Rugby and Netball Referees. Famous sportsmen such as Linford Christie, Rory Underwood and Geoff Capes are all former Air Cadets.

Athletics

The Glasgow & West Scotland Wing Inter-Squadron Athletics Competition is held each year between the 25 Squadrons in Glasgow Wings, and covers most of the track and field events.

Athletics is split into the following categories with trophies awarded for each: Class 'A' Boys, Class 'B' Boys, Class 'C' Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Girls. There is also a trophy for Overall Winners, this being the main prize.

In 2006 we came 3rd in the Junior Girls –Shot Putt
